TC BURGER ARCHIVE: Five Guys Burgers & Fries

The burger quest unofficially started here, at Five Guys Burgers & Fries, and it actually started in Orlando, Florida during our vacation to DisneyWorld in February of 2010. Our Hotel was 10-15 miles from DisneyWorld, and we drove by Five Guys everyday to get to and from the Hotel and the parks. On the second to last day, we decided to go there for a late dinner. It's a good thing that we didn't try it earlier in the week because we would have been there for every meal!

When we got back to MN, I decided to look into them a bit further and was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a few locations in MN, the closest to us (at the time) being in Edina (there are a total of 7 locations in all of MN, with 3 more on the way). Although they are considered a chain, it is not what you would expect from a chain. At all. Every burger is made to order, and you can customize it any way you want with toppings choices such as A1 sauce, jalapeno peppers, and mushrooms. Of course you can also get the basics like tomatoes, pickles and onions. It comes with your basic american cheese, which works well with the rest of the burger. What you get is a hot, gooey, messy burger that hits the spot every time.

The fries are as good as they come. They often switch up where they get their potatoes, but they are always hand-cut and fried up as they are ordered. They come in two varieties; regular and cajun; both are fantastic, and there are plenty of them. A small order will easily feed two people as they toss the excess fries into the bag.

Overall, I would recommend any burger fan to get to Five Guys if they haven't already. While it isn't a gourmet burger, sometimes a burger doesn't need to be fancy to be delicious. But sometimes a fancy burger is amazing, as you will see in future posts.....

Until next time, please feel free to leave questions or comments.
